A Great Achievement from Our Boys’ Volleyball Team

Our İELEV Anatolian High School Boys’ Volleyball Team finished as the district runner-up in the Boys’ Volleyball District Tournament held between 10 April and 22 May 2026. Having completed every tournament with a trophy over the past three years, our team has once again achieved remarkable success through its determination, discipline, and strong team spirit. We sincerely congratulate our students and all the teachers who contributed to this achievement, and we wish them continued success in the future.

GIB Exam Completion Celebration

The intense GIB examination period for our 12th grade students at İELEV High School, marked by hard work, discipline, and excitement, has successfully come to an end! After a long and dedicated preparation process, our students completed the exam marathon with great pride.c The end of this meaningful period was celebrated with applause and a cake-cutting ceremony. These joyful moments shared together became a wonderful reflection of our students’ efforts, perseverance, and solidarity. We sincerely congratulate all of our students for their determination, commitment, and outstanding effort, and we would also like to thank our teachers and the entire educational staff who supported them devotedly throughout this process. We wish our students continued success, happiness, and an inspiring future in their educational journeys ahead.

Scientific and Literary Aspects of Plants

In this interdisciplinary exhibition, our 9th grade students combined the knowledge they gained in Turkish Language and Literature and Biology classes to explore the plants mentioned in Yaşar Kemal’s Yılanı Öldürseler from both scientific and literary perspectives. In their literature classes, students discovered that the elements of nature and plants in the novel are not merely decorative details, but important narrative elements reflecting the emotions of the characters, their living conditions, and the atmosphere of Çukurova. In biology classes, they examined the structural characteristics and life processes of these plants. The models and texts presented in the exhibition aim to show that nature can be approached not only through a scientific perspective, but also through the lens of literature and art. Together, the students explored the strong connection between nature, science, and literature.

International Award for Young People (IAYP) Program

Our students at İELEV High School took the first step of their Adventure and Exploration Journey at Validebağ Grove as part of the Bronze Category of the International Award for Young People (IAYP) Program. Following their theoretical training, our students explored nature by hiking along two different routes. By experiencing how to set up tents and use camping equipment, they not only gained practical skills but also recognized the importance of teamwork. This enjoyable day in close contact with nature allowed our students to build strong connections both with one another and with the natural environment. As İELEV High School, we are very proud to be part of this meaningful experience that supports our students’ character development, leadership, and self-confidence skills alongside their academic achievements.

Galata Mevlevihanesi and Yapı Kredi Museum

Our 10th grade students at İELEV High School participated in the “Galata Mevlevihanesi and Yapı Kredi Museum” trip, organized as part of an interdisciplinary project by the Turkish Language and Literature and Social Sciences Departments. During the trip, our students had the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge about the artistic perspective of the renowned Divan poet Şeyh Galip, as well as the principles of Mevlevism and its reflections in literature. They also closely examined the historical development of coins and the figures used in the traditional Karagöz shadow play at the Yapı Kredi Museum. Our students completed the trip by working on a booklet prepared collaboratively by the three departments, and they gained wonderful experiences throughout the project. We would like to thank our teachers for organizing and contributing to this valuable interdisciplinary project.

Gülhane Park and the Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam

Organized by the Social Sciences Department of İELEV High School, our students took part in a field trip to Gülhane Park and the Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam. During the trip, our students enjoyed a day immersed in both nature and science within the historic atmosphere of Gülhane Park. They had the opportunity to observe the park’s rich history and diverse plant life, and then visited the museum, where they explored significant achievements in the history of Islamic science and technology. It was a day full of cultural and scientific enrichment. We would like to thank all of our students and teachers for their participation in this productive and rewarding event.

Understanding Anger - The Source of Emotion-the Cost of Action

On Wednesday, May 6, a seminar titled “Understanding Anger: The Source of Emotion, the Cost of Action” was organized by the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department of IELEV High School in order to raise our students’ emotional awareness. The event, featuring Expert Psychologist Can Gezgör as the guest speaker, was held in two separate sessions for our 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. During the seminar, which was followed with great interest by our students, important topics such as developing healthy responses to situations encountered in daily life, recognizing and managing emotions, peer kindness, and the psychological background of bullying were discussed. We would like to thank Expert Psychologist Can Gezgör for his valuable contributions and sharing his insights.

GeoGuessr and Flag Recognition Tournament

Our İELEV High School Make-A-Wish Club, with the support of our Social Sciences Geography Department, successfully completed our “GeoGuessr & Flag Recognition Tournament,” which we organized to help make the dreams of children in need come true. This meaningful event was filled with enjoyable moments, as well as the excitement of contributing together to a good cause. We congratulate Utku Teker and Sarp Efe, the champions of the tournament, and extend our thanks to the students and teachers who volunteered to help bring this organization to life.

CAS Day

Our Grade 11 students at İELEV High School held their CAS Day event on April 30, 2026. Through workshops they selected in the areas of creativity, activity, and service, our students worked with expert instructors and enriched their CAS experiences with new learning opportunities. Through activities such as the Nature Knots Workshop, Trekking, a visit to the Göztepe Alzheimer House, the Percussion -Rhythm Workshop, the Photography Workshop, Coding, and Archery Training, our students enhanced their skills and experiences through experiential learning. Following CAS Day, on May 4, 2026, our Grade 11 students presented the knowledge and experiences they had gained to their Grade 10 peers. They shared how they prepared before starting their chosen experiences, the planning processes behind the activities, the active roles they undertook, their experiences with teamwork and collaboration, the challenges they faced throughout the process, and the new project ideas they developed on how to address global issues inspired by these experiences. We would like to thank all our students and the CAS Coordination Team for their efforts in organizing the CAS Day event and presentations.

District Achievement of Girls’ and Boys’ Table Tennis Teams

Our IELEV Anatolian High School Girls’ and Boys’ Table Tennis Teams placed second in the district at the School Sports Çekmeköy Table Tennis District Competitions held between April 27–29. We congratulate our students on their sportsmanship and strong performance throughout the tournament, and we wish them continued success.

“Bringing Macbeth to Life” Exhibition

The “Bringing Macbeth to Life” exhibition, an interdisciplinary project organized annually by the English and Visual Arts Departments at İELEV High School, has opened. The exhibition features the analytical and creative work of our 10th-grade students. Through this collaboration, students explored Macbeth beyond the classroom, transforming their understanding of the text into visual and performative expressions. This project highlights the importance of literature in fostering critical thinking and creativity. At the same time, the exhibition serves as a tribute to William Shakespeare on the occasion of his birthday, celebrating the enduring impact of his works. We would like to thank all the teachers and students who contributed.

Breakfast with Our 12th Grade Students from the İELEV Family

A meaningful event was organized for our 12th grade students, who are preparing to graduate from İELEV High School in 2026, as they reach an important milestone in their educational journey. As our students approach the end of their IB journey, we, as the İELEV Family, hosted a warm and friendly breakfast to celebrate this period and to boost their morale and motivation ahead of the upcoming IB exams. This enjoyable gathering, which brought together our administrators, valued teachers, and dear students, turned into an unforgettable event filled with conversations, sharing, and beautiful memories. Held just days before our students’ hard work is crowned with success, this breakfast once again highlighted the strong bonds and spirit of solidarity within our school. At this meaningful event, which strengthened our sense of unity and togetherness, we shared our best wishes for success with our students and joined in their excitement. We wish our 12th grade students great success in the upcoming exam period and a future filled with health, happiness, and achievement in the new chapter of their lives.

21st Istanbul Half Marathon

İELEV High School’s İELEV Runners Club student Ela Gökmen became the Istanbul champion in the “Women Aged 16-19” category at the 21st Istanbul Half Marathon held in Yenikapı on April 19, 2026. We sincerely congratulate our student on this outstanding performance and wish her continued success.

Following the Thinkers ''Literature Symposium''

İELEV High School Literature Culture Symposium students participated in the “Following the Thinkers: Literature Symposium,” organized by Hisar Schools, on Saturday, April 18. At this year’s event, held with the theme of “Perspective,” our students shared the cultural knowledge they gained through their literature classes and developed their skills in recognizing artists who have produced works in novels, short stories, poetry, theatre, and cinema both in our country and around the world, as well as thinking about, researching, and interpreting texts. We would like to thank our students who took part in this productive and enjoyable symposium, as well as the Turkish Language and Literature Department teachers who guided them.

62nd Library Week

At İELEV High School, the 62nd Library Week was celebrated this year with a variety of activities under the theme “The Healing Library.” As part of the program held in our library: We enjoyed an engaging talk on “Bibliotherapy” by author Aslı Perker. Through the activity “What Is My Teacher Reading?”, our students had the opportunity to explore their teachers’ reading habits. In Turkish Language and Literature classes, we organized a creative book cover design competition for the novel Fahrenheit 451. With the “Write Your Prescription, Get Your Book!” station set up in our library, we supported our students’ reading habits through a fun and interactive activity. Through these events, which were met with enthusiastic participation from our students, we experienced together the healing power of libraries.

March 18th Commemoration Ceremony for the Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs

As İELEV High School, we solemnly and respectfully held our March 18th Commemoration Ceremony for the Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs, prepared by the Social Sciences Department, in a spirit of deep unity and emotion. Following a moment of silence and the National Anthem, our ceremony began with a speech by our Vice Principal, Nurettin Çelik, highlighting the significance of the day. After watching the Çanakkale documentary, emotional moments were experienced through the drama “Mektepli,” performed by our students. With the “Çanakkale Epic” oratorio, our students emphasized the heroic and epic nature of the victory. On this meaningful day, when we once again reflected on the importance of the Çanakkale Victory—one of the turning points in our history—we commemorated our beloved martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the homeland, with mercy, gratitude, and respect. We would like to thank our teachers for their efforts and our students for their valuable contributions.

Poetry Recital in Three Languages

Our preparatory class students at İELEV High School held a “Poetry Recital on the Theme of Sensitivity” on March 11, 2026, with the support of our Turkish Language and Literature, German, and English departments. In this interdisciplinary event, our students presented poems in Turkish, German, and English on themes such as love for humanity, empathy, respect for nature, and the subtleties of life. The poems were accompanied by songs performed in all three languages. We would like to thank our students, who came together through the universal language of poetry, and our teachers who supported this meaningful event.

Social Studies Quiz

The Knowledge Quiz organized by the Social Sciences Department of İELEV High School was held on Wednesday, March 4, with the participation of 9th and 10th grade students. Our students tested their knowledge through questions in history, geography, philosophy, religious culture, and general knowledge, enjoying a lively atmosphere where competition and fun came together. At the end of the competition, the winning team was awarded gift vouchers, and the event was successfully completed with great enthusiasm and interest from our students.
