1.DESCRIPTION AND STRANDS: Creativity, activity, service (CAS) is essential for DP. It has a holistic approach and it helps to strengthen and extend students’ personal and interpersonal learning.
CAS has 3 strands:
A. Creativity: experiences involving imagination, creative thinking, expression and arts.
B. Activity: physical effort, activities in which students use their initiative and contribute to their healthy life,
C. Service: unpaid, voluntary and collaborative serving for an authentic need.
2.AIMS OF CAS: CAS provides students with various opportunities to develop the traits described in the IB Learner profile. Therefore, we aim to have students who are:
A CAS experince: an event marking participation in one or more of the CAS strands.
A CAS Project: your involvement in a CAS experience lasting at least one month, addressing any single CAS strand or a combination of strands, and involving the student in planning and implementing the project. It requires collaboration between students or a with wider community.
3.LEARNING OUTCOMES: Completion of CAS is based on student achievement of the seven learning outcomes. Through their CAS portfolio students present evidence demonstrating achievement of each learning outcome.
4.PROGRAM OVERVIEW: The CAS programme officially begins at the start of the DP and continuse for at least18 months . There needs to be a reasonable balance between creativity, activity and service. Each CAS experience must follow Investigation, preparation, action and reflection stages.
CAS activities must involve:
CAS students have guidance at the school level through a variety of resources including the school’s CAS handbook, information sessions and meetings. In addition, students have three formal interviews with the school’s CAS coordinator/advisor.
All CAS students are expected to maintain and complete a CAS portfolio as evidence of their engagement with CAS. CAS portfolio means a collection of evidence and reflections. It is not formally assessed.
